Author’s Note

I wrote and illustrated Elijah Michael Damian’s Very Special Book of the A B C’s (for Elijah) and also Whatcha’ Doin’ Grampa (for Izzy) during extended stays at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital while being treated for Acute Myeloid Leukemia. I am presently 9 in years remission and am now ready to present these books to the world. The writing and illustrating of these books helped me creatively pass my hospital stays, one of which included being quarantined to a hospital room for 38 days during the process of receiving a stem-cell transplant.
