Orchard Fire Publishing is an independent press, founded to support writers through all stages of manuscript development, from writing coaching, through editing and layout, into printing and ebook creation.

Founder’s Note, from Jonathan Feist: I’m often asked about the name “Orchard Fire.” It comes from the confluence of two longterm activities in my life: editing (books and music) and tending to fruit trees, as a hobbiest orchardist. When you prune diseased wood from a fruit tree, such as that stricken by black knot or fireblight, it’s safest to burn it, and I’ll admit that burning it is a satisfying way to ensure final victory over one’s oppressors. I’ll often double the pleasure by using marked up hard copies of edited manuscripts as kindling. To me, there is an obvious parallel between the two activities, editing and pruning/burning, plus of course the metaphor of using heat to turn apples into pie. Thus, “Orchard Fire.”
